Writing

These two documents above explain what must be included for a child in Year 1 or Year 2 to be marked as working below, at or above age expectations. Whenever an extended writing piece is done the children's work is marked against this criteria. 

Handwriting 

The progression of expectations across years 1 and 2 for handwriting are summarised in the document below.

Children should be able to form all letters and numbers correctly across all their written work, including capitals, with ascenders and descenders of an appropriate length, and all letters of a correct size relative to one another.  Writing should start at the margin and continue on the line, with suitable spaces between the words and the use of capitals and full stops or other end-of sentence-punctuation to demarcate them.
