Concerns and Complaints

Barton Church of England (VA) School is committed to developing a strong sense of partnership with parents/carers and other members of the local community. This provides a good basis for understanding and resolution when things appear to go wrong.

It is best to raise concerns informally first, giving time for discussion and clarification so that the situation can be rectified as soon as possible. Please see our Communication and Concerns Policy which outlines the process to follow if you wish to raise an issue.

Cambridgeshire County Council has also published a leaflet giving advice on how to make a suggestion or to express a concern to a school, and describing the procedures agreed by many Cambridgeshire schools for responding to concerns or complaints.

The Complaints Policy and Procedure is a model policy used by all Maintained Schools in Cambridgeshire. It describes the steps to be followed when complaints are made about the conduct of the school or the actions of any member of staff or Governing Body. It is in line with recommendations in the DfE guidance.

This procedure excludes complaints relating to the School’s delivery of the National Curriculum. The procedure for curriculum complaints is summarised in the leaflet Complaints about the School Curriculum, which has been written specifically for governors and parents/carers. Copies of this are available to parents/carers and governors from the School or the County Council; copies of the relevant School policies are available from the School Office.
