A warm welcome to Summer Term 2022 in Robin Class!

Robin Class Reception children will continue with lots of learning through play, following their own interests and fascinations. Year 1 children will enjoy more structured learning and our topics this half term include life cycles, Wonderful Weather, and the life of Grace Darling.

More details of all of our learning can be found in our Curriculum Map attached at the bottom of this page, where you will also find a typical weekly timetable.

Below, you will find some guidance about practical issues relating to the day to day running of Robin Class, an overview of the subject areas we will be covering and other useful information.

Morning Routines

Please bring your children to the school playground outside the Robin blue gates at 8.50 am where Robin Class staff will be there to greet them. If you need to pass on quick messages or letters, this is a good time to do so.  At 8.55 am the school bell will ring and all children will line up with their classes before walking into their classes. Children will hang up their coats and put bookbags into their named drawers. Water bottles are put into a tray.

Essential Equipment for Everyday

  • Named water bottle
  • Named coat
  • Reading books and Reading Journal Please can these be brought in every day as the children may read with adult any day of the week. A book bag is the best thing for carrying these to and from school.
  • Named wellies and waterproofs Please can children have a named pair of wellie boots and a named waterproof coat and trousers which are to be kept at school.

If you have a quick, non-urgent message to relay or question to ask regarding the day ahead, please have a quick word in the playground in the morning before the line up bell.

Urgent messages should come through the office, either by telephone (01223 262474) or by email  ( as these will be dealt with immediately.

You can email Miss Beresford at

Generally speaking, teaching staff cannot access their emails during the school day.

Tapestry is a brilliant way to communicate between home and school. We will share your child's learning and 'wow moments' on Tapestry which you can access at home. We also love to see what the children are doing at home so please also share any special news or activities with us at school.

PE: Wednesday this half term.

Please send your child into school in their PE kit on Wednesdays, preferably a plain, white t- shirt with black shorts.  On colder days, plain jogging bottoms and a plain (or school) sweat shirt should be included.  Your child will also need a named water bottle as well as trainers or plimsoles.

Breaks and Lunchtimes

Morning break is at 10:30 each day.  Children in EYFS and KS1 are provided with a free fruit or vegetable snack each day. If you prefer to you can of course provide your own healthy, nut-free morning snack instead. Lunches will be eaten together in the hall, staring at 12.00 pm.

Please pre-book lunches on the Dolce Live Kitchen site ( title page of website) or provide a packed lunch that will be stored on a central trolley.

End of the Day Routines

Children in Robin Class exit through our blue gates and are collected from the playground. We will keep the children behind the little gate until their family member (or nominated other) is identified. Where pick up is late for any reason, children will be taken back into the school to wait and family members should go to the reception area instead.
