Swallow Y4

Swallow Class

Welcome back to the Summer term in Swallows! This year is whizzing by and the children have continued to work hard and make excellent progress in their learning. As always, please check the General Information and Home Learning pages for an overview of the children's learning this term, as well as any changes and updates - Please note the change in PE days for this term. Children should only be in their PE kit and trainers on PE days, and should be in their full school uniform on all other days.

Please continue to practise times tables regularly with your child at home, as in June, the children will complete the statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). The purpose of this check is to assess children's knowledge of times tables facts up to 12x12. Children will be shown times tables in a random order on an online programme, and have six seconds to input their answer. It is also crucial to prepare children for Year 5 for practising tables regularly to ensure children have easy access to these facts when learning new concepts next year. The link below is an excellent resource to familiarise children with the format of the MTC. Short, regular practice sessions are best.

Practise MTC

This term we are very excited to begin our new History topic about the Romans, with a Roman Day scheduled for April 29th - Please see the recent ParentMail for more details, including costumes and voluntary contributions. We will also be learning about Italy in Geography, and working with the Chance2Shine Cricket Team in PE, as well as lots of other things to look forward to! As always, please see the Curriculum Overview and Home Learning sections for more information about your child's learning this term, and how to support them at home.
