Day 4

Tasks For Today

  • Complete the relative clauses 'drop-in game' on page 13.

Definition:

How do you identify a relative clause?

Recognize a relative clause when you see one?

A relative clause - also called adjective or adjectival clause - will meet three requirements.  First, it will contain a subject and a verb.  Next, it will begin with a relative pronoun (who, whom, whose, that, or which) or a relative adverb (when, where, or why)

  • Add in a variety of different relative clauses to this stem sentence:

One troll, who ……………………, lived under a bridge.

  • Try to add in relative clauses to these alternative incomplete sentences:

The chief troll ……………………… wore a ceremonial cap..

Female trolls …………………………had special pouches like kangaroos.

Infant trolls …………………….. slept in tree trunks.

  • Can you create other sentences about trolls for yourself including a relative clause in each one?
